My Story

Hi All

Firstly thank you for visiting my fundraising page. This trip is with RDAS (Residential Development Agents Society) as Habitat for Humanity GB is one of their supported charities

A bit of background.

I first came across Habitat for Humanity in June 2017 where I was chosen by CALA Homes to join the "Big Build Cambodia" in November that year. The trip was a life changing experience for me, I consider myself to be relatively well travelled, but getting under the skin of the country and being exposed to the level of depravation that I was truly humbling.

In Cambodia our team of ten completed the construction of a home for a young family of four, the father of the family worked shoulder to shoulder with us to complete his home. Meeting his wife and two young daughters and handing them the keys to a safe, secure, watertight home with running water, electricity and sanitary facility was amazing. Up until that point the family had occupied a tin shack on land they didn’t own with no running water, electricity, no sanitary facilities and a dirt floor. That moment will never leave me.

Where.

Now I want to the same thing in Guatemala with a slight twist, we are going to a city in Guatemala know as Sololá, many people who live in the slums of Sololá suffer from respiratory diseases as they currently cook and heat their home with open fires with little or no ventilation. Our trip will involve retro fitting smokeless stoves in to homes to alleviate this issue and in some cases repairing homes to make them more habitable.

Why.

I think it is safe to say that we all do our part for charity with a few direct debits here and there or a bit of cash in a collection tin. The reason I am so enamored with HfH is that enables me to make a real difference directly to the people who so desperately needed it.

For those who sponsor me corporately over £200 your company logo will be placed on my hard hat. As the trip is with RDAS the exposure to your brand should be far reaching.

please help me raise the necessary funds to help these people.

Thank you in advance
