My Story

This will be my seventh build with Habitat for Humanity- I'm as passionate about, and committed to, the work of this charity as I was back in 2005 when I first started building. My next build will be in Cambodia......

Following decades of war under the Khmer Rouge, Cambodia has seen its levels of poverty decline, but huge inequalities persist. The food and economic crises in 2008 & 2009 led to an exodus, most fleeing rural poverty for the cities. This has resulted in concentrated poverty in both rural and urban areas. The build will be in an urban area in the south eastern part of Battambang, Cambodia's third largest city. Habitat for Humanity works here to promote responsive and effective community-based participation, building safe and affordable homes.
