My Story
Hello! My name is Casey and I am the Technical Administrator for CALA Homes in the Midlands region.
On the 1st of Feb 2019, myself and 9 colleagues from CALA Homes will be departing on a trip to Battambang, Cambodia on a Habitat for Humanity build programme. We will be building homes using sustainable construction materials, such as earth bricks, for families living in extreme poverty.
Habitat For Humanity is one of the world’s leading housing charities, which focuses on long-term development, aid and poverty alleviation, with a core mission to build safe environments where families and communities have the opportunity to thrive.
This process will involve everything from prepping the foundations to placing the last tile on the roof. All of this will be carried out in a short timescale and in very challenging weather conditions, so as you can imagine, this will be very different to my everyday role at CALA. Although I am no experienced carpenter, brick layer or roofer, I will be putting all of my efforts into building the best home possible for the family’s in need.
I am absolutely delighted to have been selected to take part in such rewarding experience and I am so pleased to be involved in making a difference. If you would like to help make a difference too or support me and the team on our journey then please donate whatever you can to such an important cause.
If you would like more information on the build, please look at the following link; https://www.habitatforhumanity.org.uk/volunteer-trips/cala-homes-cambodia-2018/
Many thanks in advance!
