My Story

Hi,

My name is Jake Richardson, a 31 year old chap from the grand city of Leicester. I love sport, travel, food & film, and consider myself a regular guy. I am lucky enough to live in a nice house that I share with my girlfriend and I enjoy eating nice meals every evening in the comfort of my house - something the vast majority of us take for granted.

I am also lucky enough to have travelled to countries such as Indonesia, Cambodia, India, Vietnam, Thailand & the Philippines to name but a few. During my visits to these countries, I have witnessed first-hand the appalling and shocking conditions some people are forced to live in; from the slums of Mumbai to tiny shacks on the side of the road in Cambodia, housing entire families.

Habitat for Humanity is a global, non-profit housing organisation with over 40 years of experience. They empower people in the world’s poorest communities to overcome the chronic lack of decent, affordable housing. Since 1976, they have helped 9.8 million people in over 70 countries throughout the world.

In April 2019 I will be joining Habitat for Humanity in Malawi to help build houses for those who are in desperate need of something they can call "home", a watertight, sheltered, safe place for families to live and sleep. In a week-long trip we intend to construct a minimum of 3 houses which will change the lives of entire families forever.

As I have witnessed extreme poverty and homelessness, and my career is building houses; what better way for me to give something back than building homes for those who are in desperate need.

I would like to raise a minimum of £1000 for Habitat for Humanity before my trip in April. Any donation that you can afford, big or small, will make the difference to those who genuinely need it!!!

Finally, please do not forget to tick the Gift Aid Box!

Thank you for your kind support.
