My Story

Hello and thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

Since 2012 Aon has sent volunteer teams to Africa and South East Asia in partnership with the charity Habitat for Humanity which helps the poorest and most vulnerable people lift themselves out of poverty. The charity has built more than 1 million homes and served 10 million people.

I'm joining a team of 25 Aon colleagues from across the UK who will travel to Guatemala in January 2019 to build affordable housing including water filters and basic santitation services, but most importantly the installation of smokeless stoves. These will replace open fires which create soot leading to respiratory diseases - a big problem in Guatemala.  There is a huge shortage of homes and Habitat for Humanity is one of the only options for these families.

The building work will be physically demanding.  I'll be doing a range of tasks all by hand, including digging foundations, mixing concrete, laying blocks, making window frames, plastering, painting and landscaping. It's going to be hard work in difficult conditions but I'm excited about the challenge !

Everyone deserves a decent place to live that will keep them safe, secure and warm. Can you imagine your life without a proper home ?

My fundraising event

On 24th November I will travel the fastest zipline in the world at over 100mph and at a height of 1555 metres over the Penryn Slate Quarry in North Wales.

I will also be jumping into the River Wharfe in my local town of Otley midday on New Year's Day !

I hope I can make a difference. Please help by sponsoring me - any amount is hugely appreciated. I'll be able to report back on how your generosity has tangibly supported this project.

Thank you !
