Bursting bubbles, building change.

My Story
As we all know, it's very easy to get caught up in your own bubble at times. Life is busy, and right now I am fortunate enough to be celebrating "big things" happening. However, bubbles quickly burst when something bad happens to you or someone you care about. It's when these situations occur you take the time to re-evalute and reflect on what's important. We are so lucky to live in a society where fresh food and water are a given, we have warm houses to go home to and an excellent healthcare system channeling innovative research and providing top class doctors and nurses to those in need. All things we probably take for granted every day. And why wouldn't we when it's all we've ever known? Perhaps that's being narrow minded, but I bet part of it rings a home truth in most of us.
We all know that there are places in the world where these deemed "basics" are a far cry from reality. We've seen the videos of malnourished children, we've picked up the phone, we've "done our bit". But have we really?
I personally don't think that I have.
Habitat for Humanity GB stand together with the poorest and the most vulnerable, and with them build, toward a world where everyone has a decent place to call home and the opportunity for a life built on hope and potential, self-reliance and dignity.
In April 2019, I will be travelling to Salima, Malawi where I will participate in a team initiative to help break the cycle of poverty in Malawi. The poverty in Salima is extremely high. HIV/AIDS has effected the area significantly, resulting in may children becoming orphaned and in need of decent housing. Most of these families earn less than $1 per day.
I will be eternally grateful if you could please help me in my individual mission to raise £1,000 for this incredible cause. Our team have an aim to build a minimum of 3 homes in the week we are in Salima. There is a lot of work to be done. With your donation we can fund the materials needed and continue reaching out for those who cannot reach out for themselves. By working together, we can all play a part.
We can all make a difference.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Any donation, big or small will honestly go such a long way. Remember to select the option for gift aid as this all counts too.
Thanks again, K x
