My Story

I am incredibly fortunate to have been selected to take part in what will undoubtedly be the most humbling and inspirational experience. Working alongside Habitat for Humanity, I along with a team from Aon will be travelling to Romania in May 2024, and supporting those living in extreme poverty, to build safe and sustainable homes.

In Romania, more than 5 million people are living in poverty — 1.5 million of those are children. Nearly 8.5 million people (41.2% of the Romanian population) have no bath or shower or access to running water. According to the national statistics, 35% of the housing stock in Romania is in a state of complete neglect and needs urgent repairs.

Real wages for working Romanian families have dropped by about 40%, putting additional pressure on the strained social system.

Much of Romania’s housing stock is low quality and deteriorating because of a lack of maintenance. A family of eight is typically more likely to live in a two-room flat than in a house.

Having been extremely fortunate to have been raised within a comfortable and safe family home and environment, this adventure inspires me to bring whatever I can in the way of providing the same for those less fortunate or having suffered through conflict. I am a firm believer that from whatever background you come and whatever hand you have been dealt in life, that every child deserves a real childhood which should be as fun and carefree as possible, and every parent should feel comfort that they are able to provide and witness their child experience this!

I'm incredibly grateful for any donation you are able to give, all the money rasied will go towards the materials required to provide these homes.

Thank you.
