My Story

Following decades of war under the Khmer rouge, Cambodia has seen its level of poverty decline but huge inequalities persist. The food and economic crises in 2008 and 2009 led to an exodus, mostly fleeing rural poverty for the cities. This has resulted in concentrated poverty in both rural and urban areas.

I'm raising money to help rebuild communities and give local people a chance to recover from the atrocities of war.  I'm going out to Cambodia in October to help build houses for the community.  I have no building experience and so hope not to create another crisis when my building efforts fall down again!

This project provides an opportunity to get to know a different culture, challenge myself and, more importantly, help people and give them the safety of being able to call somewhere home.
