My Story

Firstly, massive thanks for clicking on the link!

On 21st September 2019, I will set off to Kathmandu, Nepal to join a team of volunteers from across the world. While out there, we are going to help build new homes alongside local workers and the families who need them.

Fundraising:

On 2nd August 2019 I will be cycling from London to Paris in 24 hours to fundraise for the project. To put this into perspective, over the last year I haven't cycled much further than Clapham to work (roughly 7km), so the 250km trek should be a walk in the park.

Every penny will be added motivation as I struggle to climb the hills in Northern France and all the money raised goes directly to the charity (you are not paying for my flights!)

Mission and Vision of the charity: https://www.habitat.org/about/mission-and-vision

I believe that everyone deserves to have a safe place to call home and the benefits are tremendous:

- Improved water and sanitation, better flooring and stronger roofing.

- Improved health.

- A stable foundation to support families and help improve education.

- Economic Security through land ownership.

Nepal is a country in South Asia with a population of 26.4 million. In 2015, it suffered the deadliest and most destructive earthquake in the region for 81 years. Almost a third of the population were affected. Hundreds of thousands of people lost everything and more than 600,000 homes were destroyed. With your support, we can really make a difference to the lives of these families.

If you want to get involved with the cycle, learn more about the journey or question my sanity then feel free to get in touch.

Thank you so much for your kindness!

Matt
