My Story

My name is Nadine and I have spent the last 13 years being a midwife and sharing the experiences of women and their families as they embark on parenthood. Some  are fortunate to come from backgrounds that allow them to have access to financial support and material resources, others aren't as priviledged. The disparity in this country is nothing compared to other parts of the world and I felt it was time I gave something back to help the wider global picture.

In this country we take many things for granted, for example the luxury of the NHS, education, access to food, fresh water and sanitation. However, in many parts of the world this isn't the case.

In September 2019, Habitat for Humanity GB will send a team of women to join Honduras' multinational Women Build.

Of Honduras’ population of 8.7 million, 66.5% of families live in poverty. More than 46% live in extreme poverty, and half of the population lives in rural areas where poverty reaches 75%. For this population, gaining access to a decent home through commercial mechanisms is practically impossible. The poor are not considered a high-risk population, and therefore they are not eligible for assistance from the government.

This will be an incredible project that will unite women from across the globe to help build a world where everyone has a safe place to call home.

What can seem like an impossible journey starts with a single step so I thank you for any donation that you are able to support me with. X
